Historic charm in Old Town, Scottsdale
When a telecommunications carrier needed a concealed solution to blend in to a historic district in Scottsdale, AZ, Valmont® Larson™ delivered with a custom design that exceeded the customer’s expectations for aesthetic and functionality.
The carrier wanted to add a small cell node to improve service in Old Town Scottsdale. Old Town is an historic area, so the carrier needed the project to blend in to the existing wood sign post structures. In addition to meeting substantial aesthetic requirements, it also needed to house high power radios and rectifiers, contain a cooling mechanism, and be the RF-friendly.
Using custom engineering and design expertise, Valmont Larson designed a fiberglass sign that would house specialized equipment and cooling fans to prevent the high powered radios from overheating. Complete with steel poles and doors, the structure was painted to mimic the existing wood sign post structures in Old Town.
By accurately replicating the existing sign graphics and proportions, Valmont Larson was able to provide the customer with a solution that met historic jurisdiction requirements and delivered on functionality. If you’re ever in Scottsdale, head on down to Old Town and see if you pick this concealed sign small cell solution out from the existing structures!
